I remembered (for a miracle!) to bring my digital camera home last night, so I thought I would share some of my altered book work for a change of pace. Now, this book is my current 'technique' book -- meaning it has no particular theme, just playing about. I tend to sit down in the evening, just before I go up to bed, and do a double page spread using whatever bits are lying about on my worktable (or maybe I've brought something home from my store that day).
I think you can see from this stuff (all made within the past four months) that I am in a kind of complex mood lately. I assure you that everything on a double page is there for a reason, even while I concede that you might not be able to follow my reasoning. LOL
The cover, which will get further decorated as time goes by and the mood strikes me:
My 'ownership' page (with a constructed poem):
Here is the poem (the last phrase is 'and to them alone' - sorry about my poor photos):
This is Aiko, a little, rather traditional, Japanese girl paper doll from Dover:
This spread evolved as I found images, starting with the little African girl paper doll; I think I am talking to myself, here, but who knows?:):
This antique photo of a mother and her child made my heart melt; the other page has many things encountered traditionally in childhood:
Here are some spicy ladies (designs by Loralie fabrics) and two ATCs that I got in a swap, Go Girl!:
This young woman has a very knowing expression on her face, I think, so I call this the Ladies Aid and Terrorist Sewing Society:
This image is a preRaphaelite painting showing Pharoh's Daughter discovering Moses in the bullrushes -- She is never in doubt!:
Life, for Nora, was always a party:
The young woman on the left side is definitely a spicy girl ... it says She was really an old fashioned girl:
This page I called Orts -- it means 'old rags, tags, and snippets' -- in other words, things left over:
Something about the intelligence in this woman's face made me think of this -- it says 'Pagan' and 'Come and Listen to my Story':
This spread features an ATC I made for a recent swap on the InnerPeaceArtists group -- we were to expose our 'personal challenges'; one of mine is all the pain I have to deal with from my arthritis:
'Books can comfort when your friends are far away - READ':
'Under The Sea' - the book I am working in is an old reference text with quotes from Aristotle; this page had sea creature drawings which sparked this spread:
I truly enjoy round robins and other swaps (online and off); I made several pages commemorating these. This one shows a round robin canvas I worked on -- the owner sent me a thank you card with a photo of the final collage which I thought was very kind and wanted to remember:
I particularly like this spread, both because of the topic (autumn) and the image on the left of the wind-blown woman. The bottom left of the spread has a sealed crystal envelope with elderberries in it which are a symbol of fall, to me. :)
Hugh and I went to the movies today -- we saw 'Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End.' We quite enjoyed it, even though he had figured out what would happen to the plot in the middle of the last movie (God has given him extraordinary powers of inference; I thought he was crazy at the time:).
