I bought this newly published book (paid full retail for it!) recently and am enjoying actually READING the text! :) I want some time to play with this stuff -- I've done a little bit of paper/fabric making, just enough to tell me I want to do more. :)
I've been trying to give up caffeine for two weeks now. Well, I'm not counting the occasional dose of theobromine from chocolate - no way am I giving up chocolate! :) I discovered several weeks ago (when I was struggling with my sleep apnea and not having a functional CPAP machine) that caffeine does make me wakeful and almost certainly contributes to my insomnia. :P I guess it's going ok with my goal -- right now I am living with a self-imposed one-caffeine-drink-a-day limitation. Usually this is a Coke but sometimes it is bottled tea. This is definitely improving my sleeping! Eventually I hope to give up soda entirely but that is for the future -- it is just way too difficult to get something to drink at a fast food place if you don't want soda. :P
Once I conquer this caffeine habit, I"m going to start on my fast-food habit. The way my metabolism works, when I am hungry, I'm hungry NOW -- not in a half hour (minimum time it takes me to cook something), not in ten minutes, NOW. <sigh> Being an ADD person means -- not, as many teachers assume, that one cannot focus -- but that I have the ability to selectively focus. When I am deeply involved in some task that requires concentration (drafting a new patchwork design, machine quilting a piece, whatever), I am not aware of the physical prompts that I am usually hypersensitive to -- like hunger. Being borderline hypoglycemic means that when I emerge from a severely-focused state, I'm usually past being 'munchie' right into hypoglycemic shakes. :P Hence, too much fast food. Luckily there are better choices at the various fast food places than there used to be, but it still can't be good for me to eat so much of it. :P
I've spent the last two weeks trying to get my act back together here at the store and limping along at home. :P I am working right now on constructing the shop quilt for the Quest in November (gotta get the top pieced so it can be quilted:). I've got my blocks finished and labeled and trimmed for the Spooktacular Halloween Swap and need to mail them off to Jane. Got my August staff birthday gifts made and delivered (all but one, I think I"ll have to mail it:). Have many other projects to work on soon!
I decided to have a sample sale in the shop during the month of September. Discontinued samples have been piling up in my office for a while (I'm drowning in fabric:). Gotta get them out, label/tag them, and decide how to display them for the customers. Also have a number of things I've made I'm going to give as gifts -- which means boxing and mailing them off.... more work. :)
Don't know what I would be doing right now if I did not have the store to operate .. in my dreams I'm just quilting, knitting and embroidering with my feet up on the deck, of course. LOL
