Patty from Shoo Fly Quilting made this for me - she said in her note that she saw the original design as a blue and white antique quilt in a small shop near her. I think it is REALLY PRETTY! Love the fabrics she chose! :) This photo makes the background look like it is bright yellow - it is really a bit greener in tone, like early spring willow leaves. :) This patchwork pattern is called English Wedding Ring or Crown of Thorns.
I got so busy and anxious about making the quilt I sent in that swap, I almost totally overlooked being a receiver. :)
I've been going in circles this week at work (well, the three days I did work - took two off to lay low at home and not get sick; had an ear infection - from allergies and sinus drainage - and was trying to come down with the virus my poor dear husband has:P). We open registration for our fall classes tomorrow and all the attendant work that goes with that has kept me circling like a plane low on fuel over the airport. (grin)
The weather has been awful here in the MidAtlantic region this summer - hot and hotter, humid and swampy. Yesterday we got a front through with rain and, Thank you, God!, cooler weather. Glorious 80 degree weather!! 10 to 20 degrees lower than has been usual this summer. (aaaaaah!) ;)
Of course, I am busy inside this weekend instead of out ... but going from house to car to store and back feels great without the burden of heavy, dank, stinky air to breathe!
