Today I proved once again to myself that I am not a drawer. :) I can trace, luckily! I am making an applique block to be included in a group quilt and my subject was 'Emu.' None of what I show above is sewn down, yet, but it is all ready to be appliqued. I tea-dyed the ultrasuede legs of the mommy and baby emus so, soon as they dry, I'll be getting my needle out.
This project turned out to require slightly more 'art-y-ness' than I thought it would. Had to use my Pigma pens to do the markings on the adult and baby bodies and on the legs. Then I had to tea-dye the legs to knock back the brightness of their coloring (was too pale). I'm debating whether to add black seed bead eyes once the applique is done.
I managed to finish calculating the yardage requirements for my Quest quilt design so we can start making the sample - took a couple of hours of diligent computer work. :) The first thing I found when I walked into my office this afternoon was that the slide out shelf for my computer desk had fallen off. (Sigh) Hope that can be fixed - my desk feels naked without the extra work surface. :)
My order of shelving units arrived today so I hope to be able to start cleaning the back half of my office tomorrow. Wish me energy - I'll need it!
:) Linda
Thanks! I've only seen Emus once (and never any chicks) so I'm working from Google images, more or less. ;)
