Here is the finished Bunny Mat - the conclusion of my focus days of creativity for June. I spent the last three days, during the daytime, working pretty hard in my store. We have a sale going on for the holiday weekend and I am working on the sales floor every day. That pretty much takes care of any energy for posting to my blog. :P
However, it has not stopped me from doing something creative every day! I have finally finished my bunny mat - using the hand dyed wools from Dyed And Gone To Heaven (Australia) and Jeanne Sullivan (US) ... and an original design by moi. :)
After I did the flower embroidery, I rounded off the mat shape and decided to put a layer of black boiled wool on the bottom to give my mat more strength. I wanted to have lots of flowers in the (metaphorical) meadow, so I embroidered herringbone stitches and then flowers around the outside border, onto the black wool edge mounting fabric _and_ the green meadow part alike ... and scalloped the edge once the embroidery was done. Here is a closer photo of the edge:
I'm really happy with my mat .. now I just have to decide where to put it in my (messy) house. :) Tonight I started on another mat design, this one from Woolylady (US), in 'caribbean' colors of wool. I'll try to take a photo of that work in progress soon.
Tomorrow I have to work in my shop again ... but we are closed on Monday for Independence Day. I am planning to spend the entire day sewing on my own projects ... with some time out to watch the parade down main street in Catonsville and, maybe, some fireworks. :)
:) Linda
