I found another butterfly photo in my camera (this one is somewhat less giddy-making:). The creature was flitting around quite quickly so I did not catch any fully open-winged photos. Saw bees (bumbles) on some lovely lavender today as I was out delivering paperwork to my bank - there were about six of them working over a small clump of herbs. Moving right along, too! :)
After I did some kitchen cleaning yesterday, I managed to boil the wax out of my dye class fabrics from the Wax Resist Dye day with Malka Dubrowsky. I'm pleased with how they turned out - though now I am pondering what to make with them. :) Here are a few pics:
We experimented with making marks using brushes of various sorts, tjantings (wax filled metal 'pens'), cardboard stamps, vegetables (that green print on the upper left shows marks made with a sliced bell pepper with central cardboard shaped triangles), stamps made of wood and metal (tchaps), etc. The blue on the lower right edge is my own hand writing with a tjanting.
Here are some closeups:
Most of these are just examples of different patterns. I'd like to overdye one or two with other colors to try patterning ... but who knows if I'll ever get around to it. :)
I went to see a movie this afternoon (Pacific Rim, which I found quite good even though I know a minimal amount about this particular genre of sf)...since then I've been resting and reading (Artic Rising, on the recommendation of the artist from Schlock Mercenary:) Quiet day. :)
