All sorts of things are happening daily in my life (just like they are in yours, I'm sure:) ... but most of them are sliding across my brain and leaving very little trail. (sigh!)
I did have enough energy to go for an actual WALK last week - on Wednesday, I think - to our local big park (Centennial Lane Park). We are still having typical late summer weather here in Maryland - hot, a tiny bit less humid (but only a local could tell, I'm pretty sure!). As you can see, very much the summer wildflower mode in the park - no leaves turning at all. When the weather gets a bit crisper, everyone RUNS outdoors 'cause it doesn't last long. :) Usually fall weather segues into winter rain pretty quickly. :P
My husband has a new great-nephew so I decided to make a small gift for him. Here's a photo of the baby pumpkin hat almost finished:
Since I took this photo I have completed the hat (which is very orange; don't know why it looks so red in this photo). The new baby has a big brother and so now I'm trying to make something for him, too. (I remember very well, when my son was born, how jealous my daughter got of all the attention he received ... so I try to give 'big brother/sister' gifts to siblings, too:).
I used organic cotton yarn to make the hat (they live in a southern-ish state:)...maybe I'll use the rest to make a matching one for big bro' ('cept I'll have to figure out how to make the hat bigger ... and exactly how _much_ bigger a two year old is than a baby:).
Tomorrow I have to drive down to Warrenton, VA (about 2.5 hours and 75 miles away) for a shop owners meeting (for Quilter's Quest). I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else on the committee .. and to shopping somewhere new. :) I dread Quest coming, though, as there is a great deal to do in the shop before then. :)
My Mom is not feeling very well right now - she's having trouble with her feet/legs swelling (likely due to the auto-immune disease she has been suffering from for the past 11 years). I'm thinking to drive to Ohio to go to see her new arthritis doctor with her on the 26th. If I do, it will be a really busy week - my husband's birthday is on the 23rd and my son's is the 24th. ;)
