As you can see from the bright blue sky patch above, it was a nice sunny day today in Columbia, MD. :) The piles of snow from shoveling this patio walkway under the trees are way higher than is usual for MD at this time of year. :) I took several photos of tree branches against the sky while I stood there, too. I want to make my own version of a Caroyln Friedlander tree quilt.
Yesterday was overcast most of the day - despite that, my son and I took a bunch of recycling to the county dump (mostly paper stuff but also the old garbage disposal, at long last:). Got my sunshine dose yesterday, too, hooray!
This afternoon Skip and I went to the mall to walk and get some late lunch. He had a nice long nap before we went so I think he is feeling much better (though he's still not well). The photo above was taken as I was standing in the cold sunshine, waiting for Skip to retrieve the car and pick me up. I only had enough 'go' in me to walk one way through the mall, not all the way back too. :P Building up my stamina bit by bit.
I think it is odd that I can ride my recumbent exercise bike for an hour at resistance level 7 without stopping but can only walk for ten minutes or so before I have to sit. Now that my knee is better, my hips and lower back are giving me fits. :P Good old Arthur Ritis, I suppose (and the accumulated effects of years of being overweight). Sigh.
I did manage to get two more baby blocks made today while watching The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug from Netflix.
I had fun pullling out bits and pieces of yardage to use on these blocks. I don't really keep scraps, as such. I generally fold the little bits in with whatever larger stuffs I have of the same fabric. I got into the habbit of giving away my scraps over the past 15 years ... guess I need to make myself some kind of baskets to keep my little bits in so it isn't such a challenge to find an asssortment when I want them. :) Sounds like a good excuse to make some more wrapped/coiled baskets to me. Love doing that. :)
I need to buy some fabric (yes, I know, who can believe it?:) to finish making the border for the round robin I am in. I got the project late to work on ... but hate to be late handing it forward. Might have to be ... took me some time to decide and design a border; now I need the right fabrics. Allatime somethin'. Grin.
Managed to get my check book balanced this afternoon - faster than usual (I almost always have to do it twice due to forgetting to check some item or making an error in writing the check amount or some other 'dumb' mistake:). Whew!
