I woke up pretty early (for me) this morning and made it to my brother's hospital by 11:35 a.m. He looked better today to some degree. Was a bit more cheerful, too. Maybe there is hope, yet. :)
While he was eating his lunch, I sat with my iPhone and used the hospital's free wifi to read the news. I like to check in with the BBC for my quick news catch. In my experience, their coverage of US news is pretty good and much less slanted than other easy sources here. One of the articles in the 'business' section was about Longaberger basket company and how they are suffering financially. The article noted that their unique headquarters building in NEWARK, OHIO was up for sale.
Of course, I blinked in surprise. The hospital is in Newark but I had not seen anything even remotely unique in the town. Grin. A quick Google showed me that - yes, indeed! - Longaberger's headquarters is situated about six miles east of Jeff's hospital. Of course, I _had_ to go looking for it after I finished my visit today. :)
The photo above shows my first glance at the building, in the distance. Very strange! Here's what it looks like up close:
A mere photograph cannot convey how very surreal this building looks sitting there on it's nicely landscaped grounds! Sooooo strange, driving up to a five story basket! Apparently it is up for sale - can you imagine any other company taking over this property? (If so, maybe you should go into real estate and broker a deal:)
So, four and a half hours of driving today - was nice weather in the mid80's, sunny (notice pretty blue skies above with fluffy white clouds:). Otherwise, I've done nothing useful. Fed myself supper (my brother Kevin fed himself before I got home). Shrug.
Tomorrow, the breathtaking world of public laundry!
:) Linda
