Today would have been my mother's 85th birthday. I wish she were here to celebrate with me! The photo above shows her high school graduation portrait. I miss her terribly.
Today was a mixed day of home improvement and sewing. I managed to gather the assorted pet related goods and move them all into my car. It took some time as some of the stuff was heavy (had to get Skip to help carry out after he got home from work) and because I had to stop and rest as I went along. Whew!
Of course, while I rested I sewed (one advantage of having my sewing machine in the middle of our living room:). I am watching a nature documentary series about the various large islands of the world while I sew - today I learned about Japan (did you know there are 7000 Japanese islands?) and Vancouver Island. Hugh and I were just talking yesterday about wanting to go on vacation to the latter sometime. I think the most fun way to go would be to take the Canadian Train across the Rockies from Toronto to Vancouver. :)
By the end of the afternoon I had completed Clue #2 of my En Provence project:
This photo shows my pile of 100 Peaky-and-Spike units. That's enough to make 25 '54-40-or-Fight' style star blocks. Wonder if that's what they will be? :) Mystery looms onward. :) Thank you to Becca who posted in the comments to my blog of yesterday how I could go about sharing my finished clue photos on Bonnie Hunter's linky pages! Got it done - with one link from my blog post (clue 1) and one from my Instagram post (clue 2).
The weather was very gray and overcast today but warmer than it has been - probably in the high 50's or low 60's as my indoor sweater was plenty of cover when I was carrying things out to the carport. I got a chance to stand and chat with our neighbor Larry while I was working out there. He's a very 'people' oriented person and always knows what's going on in the neighborhood. Larry is one of the real pleasures of living in this house. :) He and his wife, Laureen, are planning a post-Christmas trip to Michigan (!) to see both their daughters and families. I think they will get a right dose of upper midwestern winter. :)
Tomorrow I hope to finish sewing Clue #3 as well as my cleaning the kitchen counters off task. Wish me strength. :)
