I spent five hours on Sunday afternoon (well, 11 a.m. 'til 5 p.m., minus a few minutes to sit in a chair puffing here and there:) cleaning one corner of my office! Talk about hard work - this fabric slinging business is not for the unfit! :)
I went (rather ruthlessly) through my accumulation of fabrics and projects piled on the table in my office (you know that problem any clutterbug like me has with horizontal surfaces, eh?:). I did triage on the fabrics - sorted out three very large bags full of fabrics to find new homes for - and on the projects ... sorted out the store samples-in-progress from the personal ones, decided which ones would be finished within the next four months, and packaged the rest to take home (four very full bags of stuff).
Also went through the two Iris cart-of-drawers units and reorganized them into one for 'tools' of various kinds (including paints, inks, etc) and the other for 'unusual' fabrics (silks, wools, hand dyed cottons and such - the things I want to be able to use in my 'small art quilt' works:).
Then I took the table that had been in that corner out and replaced it with a new folding table I bought from JoAnn's online (rare, event, me buying from JoAnn's, never mind buying online! they had a half-price sale that I could not resist so I got my new sewing table for $75, free shipping:). The new table is smaller than the one that had been there (hooray for more space!) ... my sweet husband helped me set it up and adjust the height to my Bernina (has a set-in place for my machine:).
I am soooo excited about this change - now I can sit down and sew (mostly on samples) whenever I have a few minutes in the shop. I have my fingers crossed that this means I will be more productive! :)
On the home front, we finally took delivery of our new furniture (which was the holiday gift I got for my family:) - photos another time of that. Very comfy - and my son and husband seem to like what I bought (I did not bother to ask either of their opinions about what to get:) ... which is a relief. :)
Also on the home front, I finally finished knitting the Damson Shawl I've been making since November. I bought some soft, lovely looking sock yarn online called Sock Candy from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I was extremely upset when I soaked the shawlette in cold water and laid it out on a towel to block/dry. This is hand-dyed yarn in a hotpink-puple colorway. When I took up the shawl to sew the yarn ends in, the towel was hot pink spotted (like some outrageous, girlie leopard)! Grrr. I really expect things that are hand dyed to be washed adequately BEFORE I get them to work with. Washed it again and turned a Dye Magnet sheet hot pink, too. grrr.
I hope I don't have to wash it a third time in Synthrapol ... that will be going way too far, in my humble. I am going to once again attempt to block it tonight - stay tuned. grrr.

Yes, my Bernina is a 1090! :) I bought it in June 1992 and have loved it for years. :)
I have a nice built in cabinet at home for my B, but I don't have the space in my office at work to put that in so I bought this small folding table online.
The one I bought was called the Sew Much More table ... it doesn't seem to be listed on Joann's website now (just went to look for it) so I don't know if they are still selling it. It was really easy to set up - came all assembled and all we had to do was adjust an eye bolt to lift the inset shelf a bit higher for my B.

Hey, is that a Bernina 1090 ? I have the same machine and need to find a new sewing table for it. I can't believe you found that at JoAnn's, I would never think to look (or buy) there! Is there a model number? Do you like it - is it height adjustable, etc?
