Thank goodness this darned boot isn't on my right foot! I can still 'drive' my sewing machine. :) I'm in a Bee with the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild and yesterday I thought I'd better buckle down and start working on my blocks. Last night I cut pieces out from my red and white charm squares (swap:) and I'm sewing them together this afternoon.
This particular Bee is divided into groups of six people. It is a block bee so each of us chooses a block pattern and makes one of those for each other member in the colors each member has chosen. For example, I have chosen white/cream and red as my colors - so each of the other folks are supposed to make a 12" (finished) block, of whatever design they have chosen, for me using red/white.
I like the way the Cross or Plus block looks so I thought I'd make that for folks. Of course, I have to test the size/arrangment of my block so I'm making mine, in red and white, first. You can see two pieces of my test block above (I have two more columns of pieces to add to it). The squares on my block are 1.5", finished, so I'm happy with how many Plus motifs I can get into each block. I wanted to be sure there were enough to give a nice assortment of color choices. :)
This has been a long and less-than-pleasant week for me. Starting off on Monday with the darned boot. Monday night, as I was trying to go up my front steps around 9p.m. as I can home, my booted foot slipped and I fell, hard, into the corner of my house. :P Rolled all the way across our front sidewalk and into the flower bed under our Japanese maple tree.
Luckily, I didn't break anything (well, I am pretty sure I didn't - no swellings or lasting pains) but I sure am bruised and battered up. :P I spent Tuesday and Wednesday at home, taking it easy with my foot up. I can always tell when I am _really_ under the weather - sitting around doing nothing much (reading, napping) feels fine and I don't get antsy. :P
Thursday I went back to work at my store - was a long day and I had to spend most of it sitting down working at the computer (updating our website, making blog and Facebook posts, etc). Today I had a private student to tutor and went out for a haircut ... and I'm feeling a bit less achy.
I have to work on the sales floor on both Saturday and Sunday. Wish me strength - I might have to stay 'down' on Monday to recover. :P
Linda
Hi Linda, I do hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly? I am thinking maybe you shouldn't be working this weekend but I guess you have to. Just remember to take care of yourself, Karen
