Well, some happy colors anyway, eh? My two days off this week have been ... interesting. I woke up yesterday about quarter of 6 (AM!!), sneezing explosively. :P Seven in a row. :P Spent the whole day in my nightgown and robe, trying to stay warm.
Seriously, I have never in my life had a cold come on so fast! Marathon sneezing sessions - good thing I could stay at home and away from other people (my son even avoided me:). I was so sleepy all day, I barely managed to do anything at all other than the barest maintanence things.
Today I am quite a bit better - have had one or two sneezing fits, but no more. Maybe I'll be well by tomorrow? (snort) I actually managed to do some useful things today - went out to the post office, stopped by the bank, hit Home Depot and bought some cleaning tablets for our new-ish washing machine (the little red 'clean washer' light came on:) ... I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and decided to go to the store after that. Skip usually goes in on Wednesday evening to do book keeping and I felt like being with him there.
I took a project to finish with me - these funny colorful objects are going to transform into a 'Monster' stuffed toy for a charity project. I bought the yarn originally meaning to make a new bicycle seat cover - the color jumped right out and grabbed me by the pocketbook. LOL! It is 100% acrylic and nicely soft to touch (and, of course, washable).
I don't remember when I first started making stuffed toys - years and years ago. I know it was before my kids were born ... and I made some for them from time to time. :) This one has a knit body and crocheted appendages. :) I sat and stuffed it tonight.
I had to go look online to find instructions for sewing the pieces together, though - generally, when I knit things, I do them without seams (top down, etc). I found a
tutorial with drawings on Knit Simple that worked well for me. Uh, I _think_ it worked well; I felt like I understood what I was doing. :) The real test is in the use of course. :) Here are a couple more photos:
Stuffed hands and feet. :)
Sewing up the bottom seam.
If you look at the first photo above, you can maybe see that I did some garter stitch along the top of the head area, thinking that the knit stitch nubs would be a good place to anchor some tufts of yarn or maybe ribbon for 'hair'. I have to check the charity project's guidelines to see if that is acceptable (don't know about 'child safe' much:) first. :)
I have to go to have blood drawn tomorrow a.m. and to weigh-in. After that, I am looking forward to decorating a new spring-y front window display (hope the sun shines like today!). Then back to the arranging class details work. Never any end to the excitement (major snorts!).
:) Linda
