Yesterday was pretty quiet compared to the previous few days. I stayed home and mostly puttered ... but I did manage to sew three star blocks from my Sunshine Stars project. Kaffe collective fabrics are bright, happy prints. Cheers me up! :)
Here are the other two stars:
Today was a great day. The weather was mild - mid 40s, partly cloudy but mostly blue skies ... Barbara and I took a trek up to the northeast area of Baltimore to visit Glory Bees quilt shop (I always think of it as going to visit my fabric shelves:) Barbara owns two Janome sewing machines and she decided to take both of them in for spa treatments over the holidays. The man who does the mechanic-ing at GBs is very well reputed (highly recommended by the regional Janome rep, too) so she thought she'd try him out. :)
We drove us along I95 via I695 (the Baltimore beltway) and MD Route 1. Pleasant trip and traffic was light most of the time. Coming home, both of us got a good chuckle - neither of us could remember going through the Ft. McHenry tunnel under the harbor (even though we knew we had done so:) on the way north. Huh. Too busy talking, likely.
I enjoyed the visit at GBs. I bought a new pattern for leaf shaped (foundation pieced) placemats, two yards of a very nice batik backing fabric for the Sunshine quilt, and two skeins of a nice Noro bulky yarn (yarn was on half price).
We had lunch at a GREAT place called Uncle's Hawaiian Grindz, right on Bel Air Road (Route 1). Gosh the food was good!! I had Katsu Chicken with Sweet Potato Waffles. I salivate when I think about it. :) The wait staff was diligent, too. Apparently it's a locally owned restaurant (not a chain or franchise) and uses locally-sourced meats and veggies (they had a list of the area farms where they buy stuff). Yum, yum! I know almost nothing about Hawaiian food but I sure enjoyed it. :)
After Barbara brought me home, I spent some time finishing the movie I rented last night to watch (Mission Impossible: Fallout). I balled up the first hank of yarn I bought while I watched, too. I don't use bulky yarn too often - 100 meters of it made a huge ball (big enough to totally fill my yarn bowl). :) I had to order some double pointed needles of a big enough size to make the hat I want to knit .. they will be here in a couple of days (sigh). Most of the needles I own are for sock weight yarns.
Tomorrow I intend to stay home and 'tend house' a bit.
:) Linda
