Today was a very pleasant early winter day. Sunshine, mild temperatures (mid to high 40s), mostly sunny skies. I had a gentle start - sleeping in a bit later than usual and then reading my email before starting my breakfast and doing my chores. Wednesday is the day for recycling pick up in my neighborhood - so on Tuesday afternoons, I gather the assorted bottles and cans, paper boxes, etc. and put then out in the big blue bin for my husband to wheel to the curb for collection (at o-dark-thirty when he leaves for work in the morning:).
When I opened my front door to go out to do the tasks, I discovered the birdfeeders quite low and my son helped me refill them with sunflower seeds (he is much taller than I am and can therefor reach up to take the feeders down from their hooks easier than I:). Another half hour or so to take out the recycling and I went in to make myself breakfast.
Once I had eaten, it was SEWING time. :) Today I had still a pile of stars to be pieced for the Kaffe quilt I am working on. There is one above (I _really_ like that background print with the bright blue ovals, shown above - that is my most favoritist color of blue:). Here are the other I pieced over the next two hours:
I am glad I took photos of each one - when I look at the photo I get a better idea what the block will look like in the final quilt than I do with it near my face. :) Trust me, these fabrics are BRIGHT. :) The selection of prints chosen for this kit project are all saturated and strong. Whew! I am eager to see what the finished quilt looks like in real life. :)
By the time I was finished piecing the fifth block around 3:30 p.m., my husband was home and I stopped sewing to eat lunch/dinner. After that I got distracted reading a book I borrowed from the library (Part of the Furniture by Mary Wesley). I quite recommend it! I don't usually read 'romance' novels but this one was highly reviewed and was set in England during the second world war. Did not go back to sewing today...
I have one more block ready to be pieced tomorrow. After that, I will have to go back to sewing half square triangles until the other 15 block's worth of subunits are completed. Then I can piece the remainder. I think I can manage to get another week's worth of joy at least out of this project. :)
I spent the evening watching the newest Robin Hood movie from Netflix (while my husband went off for his Tuesday night bowling league). Very satisfying.

Hey Linda! (We know each other from MOD!)
I had a reason to Google my name today for something and was thrilled to get this link in the results - so I HAD to read your blog and look at your pix.
This was one of the most joyful quilts I made for my Craftsy/Kaffe project - I hope you have finished it and that you love it. I'd love to see your finished quilt? (Bobbip2006-quilts at yahoo dot com) I've actually made this quilt twice - once for Kaffe and once for Craftsy so sadly I don't have either one. Maybe I need to make one for ME!
Your combo's are wonderful. Can't wait to see yours.
Do you think we'll ever have another MOD? Gosh I hope so.
