I thought I would share a photo of my sitting area on our back deck. I need to work on my plants, too. :) We've had a lot of thunderstorms this week, mostly at night, and the area is a bit less tidy than it shows here.
The weather has been beastly hot and humid for a number of days. Good old summertime. Grin. I've mostly been doing indoor things - like sewing. :) I've continued to make improv roses as I piddle around my sewing machine. Have not added any of them to the garden, yet.
Barbara and Patty have finally drawn me into the Stripology world with the newest sew along - Kimberly - by Gudrun Early. Last Sunday we spent most of the day at Barbara's house sewing along with the crew. I got most of my blocks made that day and finished the last 12 this week. Here is a sampling:
I'm really pleased with the fabrics I chose! I am loving how the blocks are turning out.
This past Friday (yesterday) was the monthly open studio for sewing at Springwater Designs. Barbara was meeting with our friend Polly Mello there to work on Dear Jane so Patty and I came, too, to sew. I took my Featherweight, Blue, and my Kimberly project to sew - finished the last blocks, trimmed them all, and started assembling and attaching the borders to my Halloween Whimsy panel print:
I was pretty tired by the time I got to this point so I stopped sewing for the day. Barbara suggested (and I thought) that an asymmetric border might be a better choice than the two-rows-around layout I had originally chosen. I'm still pondering this for now.
I spent most of today helping my niece Kimmie move into the new condo unit. She and her friend Bradon drove a 10' UHaul truck from Colorado to here over the past four days. Monumental effort! She will be living there along with my brother for a while.
My hope is that she can find something she wants/loves to do with her life while she is here (fingers crossed and prayers being said). Today I took them around town - we had lunch, visited ReStore (and found some great buys on furniture for her bedroom), and bought her a mattress/box springs from a store in Dobbin Center. Whew!
Tomorrow will be busy, too. Personally, I hope the heat breaks down a bit - it is so draining on my stamina to deal with the heat while doing other, more fun, things.
:) Linda
